A short recap of the cyberspace meeting with the doctor:
Became aware of an increasing number of mishaps in live performances and around the theatre. Increase in both frequency and magnitude.
Theories so far:
NTT source of mishaps. Date of Jenny's 1st broadcast and upsurge of mishaps coincide. Jenny is now in the NTT.
NTT is a shadow of the NT. "it is a theatre, well, it's theatres and theatres". Also mentions the Shadow of Mr Walpole, and says "it seems I can hear the echoes and whispers of the NT." and "sometimes like a trick of the light i see the shadows of your plays."
Jenny's in a theatre of sorts where similar events happen to those that occur here. She has appeared in radically different versions of the same plays on at the moment (The Seagull): "Ive played Nina 6 times, but no times in The Seagull like i saw it."
In the NTT, things that DON'T happen at the NT HAPPEN.
Jenny is performing every potential version of The Seagull that was never written, with different endings etc.
She is existing in every possible version of the NT ever imagined.
Kingsway = ... Kingsway!
Kingsway is the codename given to the lead actor of the season, but this fictionalised character takes on life!
The NTT is an Escher-like space of twisted possibilities - all possible versions of the NTT cohabiting.
But why is all this happening now?
Isn't it possible that the NTT could run out of space and become filled with infinite possible actors playing infinite possible roles in infinite possible plays.
The Mishaps could be overspill from a full NTT! But only if the NTT is a finite space!
The NTT has sprung a leak, and it's 'reinterpretations' are spilling into the plays at the NT.
Another theory to explain the mishaps:
If NTT has INFINITE space (more logically coherent), then something else must be at work.
The NTT has no audience, with no applause or praise - just shadows upon shadows. Now, if these shadows are self aware, they could crave what we have - plays which have ENDINGS.
And their actors must be tortured by the lack of clapping!
They are reaching out into our world, probing at weakspots in our theatre, making their presence felt by screwing up the performances! Gaining some precious attention...
Maybe they have always been lying in wait, and Jenny, who wanted to be an actress so much, and who had the 'right' name (Miss Blenheim), opened the door to the shadows, ushering in the mishaps...
Apparently, there are clear patterns in the nature and clustering of the mishaps. Most mishaps apparently occur at the start of a run, then fade out, then become more frequent during the 3rd quarter of a run. This suggests that mishaps occur when a play is not yet fully established, and when actors have mastered a performance, and relax subconsciously.
Mishaps wait for moments when the focus of a play is not yet clear, or has become blurred through complacency.
The same pattern is apparently true of individual performances. Mishaps like forgotten lines tend to happen at the start or shows, and just before the interval. This reiterates the earlier findings.
Then, after answering 1 question, The DR vanished saying "Stop! Stop this! I..."
