I think that Dr. Misnuneris has been altering the balance between ‘shadow’ and ‘solid’ and that we have all been aiding and abetting him! Do you remember Rabbit, that in my musings before I wrote that I thought the NTT was a reality beneath the surface our own? This comes from the ‘Many Worlds Interpretation’
Kingsway implied that the NTT’s realities are specific to the Mishaps caused and circumvented by the actors upon its stages (and perhaps also its staff of its ‘fourth auditorium’) and that a new reality, a ‘new stage’ could open up or disappear with every potential forgotten line or missed cue. ‘The Copenhagen Interpretation’ is an opposing set of ideas that says that as soon as you look at some thing you cause it to have to make up its mind as to what it is. Simply by observing, the potential is destroyed and the notional event is forced to become a solid fact. Which brings me to Mishap Phenomenology. Dr. Misnuneris has had us all looking out for exactly these kinds of events. By observing them have we been destroying them?
I am left with the following questions:
Was the doctor purposefully screwing with the balance or was it an accident? Has his research been corroding or feeding the NTT realities? Where has the doctor gone? Did he ever exist or was he made up by Tom Bown? Who is Tom Bown? and where did he get that nice blue shirt from? (OK that last one is a little off topic), Is this the reason the NTT is coming ‘out to play’?
There were another couple of things that I have been thinking about but haven’t got straight yet. K said he had had his book stolen but that we couldn’t get it for him as he didn’t have it to give. He also said something along the lines of that he wrote the book in his head – which leads me to suspect it is a notional book rather than a physical object.
The book is not ‘Schemes and Estimates’ or ‘Stage by Stage’.
He said that some thing occurs every 6.
He said that 5 letters were against him and that there was a name he cannot say (MacBeth?) Does this mean 5 written letters – possibly in Tom’s archive, or 5 people represented by initials?
He seemed desperate to have ‘Ralph’s Rocket’ be fired although ambivalent as to when or why. He likes whiskey.
